My mom is well-known for leaving my sisters and me in the dust. My family and I will be doing any activity, you name it: Kayaking, walking, biking, hiking, shopping. Where’s mom? Oh, she’s wayyyyyy up there. You better keep up. If you’re on a hike and you are ready to head to the car, you better believe she’s going the extra mile. If there’s a crazy idea that I didn’t come up with it, you can be sure my mom did. She’ll say something like, “Hey, we’ve been snowbound for a week and its 4 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Lets put the kids in the packs and go snowshoeing! The sun is out, surely the trail will be busy”. We were literally the only ones out there. She was baffled.
Besides the risk of being left behind, here are a few more reasons you should not travel with your mom:
She won’t even look at you…
…”Mom! mom! Hey! Mom! I’m over here!”
You may be forced to try new things.
She might play games with you…
…Like peek-a-boo.
If she’s too-well traveled, she could get a big head.
She will make you go to church.
She will make you exercise. You’ll have to stop her from taking home every souvenir she sees.
You risk getting stranded in the middle of nowhere together.
Literally.
Everything you do together from thereon will seem boring.
You’ll get stuck following her everywhere.
Or stuck on a ledge!
Follow her too far and you might fall down a rabbit hole…
Whatever you do, don’t listen when it says “drink me!” You may grow…
Or shrink.
Do be sure to give her lots of hugs so she doesn’t get homesick.
Because, she’s a long way from home.
But remember, her smile is all worth it.
After all, you wouldn’t be anywhere without her.
Awww….love this Emma!
Wonderful! Simply wonderful!
